Lawn care is not quantum physics and anyone can do it. The problem is that everyone is a beginner in something at a given point. This is normal and we are all somehow better in one field of activity then another. However, there is one known aspect that I am aware of. Let’s start with gloves – use gloves to protect your hands from any possible scratches and bruises that might occur during the work. Seeding the grass in order to get your lawn growing and getting greener is not paper writing. You might get hurt so be attentive. Next! Weed removal tools. If you just moved to a house where no one lived for at least last several months – unwanted weeds somewhere around that places where you want your lawn to be situated are guaranteed. By having the right tools for removing the unnecessary weed you can easily finish the job without being worried of them affecting the soil while you plan those seeds. Besides the above mentioned tools, I think that having a bug killer won’t hurt. While pest like termites and ant aren’t that common and won’t affect your lawn directly, you can still monitor the appearance of some bugs or worms from time to time and just treat the soil with any lawn (grass) safe bug killer when having this opportunity (go to your local hardware store in case you have no clue where to get it). Be aware of pest control folks; don’t say that you haven’t been warned! A rake might be also necessary. Every homeowner that wants a nice lawn in front of his house need to think about having a basic sprinkler system at the beginning when just starting out and to consider purchasing and installing an advanced irrigation system when the grass starts to appear. That juicy green color of your turf will appear the moment you won’t be greedy when watering it. However, do everything with measure because you can get busted over exaggerating with watering and this means damage to the lawn itself. Also get a fertilizer and of course decide about the place for your lawn!

The Beginning of Your Juicy Turf – How to Prepare the Land for Your Lawn

So if you reached till this very moment you probably decided to dump your actual lawn care services and to start do build your lawn from scratch without any help from exterior. To be honest, all the information required for you to have one of the most beautiful lawns in your neighborhood can be found on the net… honestly. So, that’s why you have to first remove all the unnecessary debris like weeds, dead leaves and branches from that land where you want to plant the special grass (sod) you bought for your lawn. Remember that you are not dealing with artificial or synthetic lawn and you are actually going to plant it. Your LAWN IS ALIVE!!! HURRAY!!! The process of weed removal is probably the most difficult when just starting out. I suggest doing watering early in the morning or late in the afternoon (maybe closer to the evening) when the sun stopped from shining so bright and the temperature decreases a little bit. Take a sprinkler system and attentively water every portion of your yard. DON’T OVERDO IT! Make sure that it receives enough moisture, but don’t exaggerate with watering because the roots are going to rotten!

Taking Care of the Unwanted Guests (Bugs) on Your Turf

Bugs might become a pain if you don’t take care of them in time. Make sure that you apply a safe lawn bug killer to eradicate all leaf eating pests out there. Don’t exaggerate. Use your common sense or better just read the instruction. Some people are complaining about having problems doing some of their DIY lawn care stuff, but when you ask them if they properly read the instruction and accorded it at least several minutes they become shy and look into the floor. BAHH! GUYS!! Read the freaking instruction if you want to get it done right, especially when dealing with worm and bug control in your lawn.

Fertilizing

Fertilizing your lawn is crucial and must be done several times a year (I am going to dedicate a whole post to fertilizing, but later). By doing it, you maximize the growth.

Mowing

Mowing is really important if you want to maintain a nice looking grass and make sure that your turf in your yard looks good. I suggest doing it once per week, but if you really love your turf you can do it several times, more often. By mowing, professionals succeed in maintaining a healthy grass height.
